Sustainably Sourced Materials
As a timber-based furniture supplier, we ensure that all the wood we use is responsibly sourced. Our materials are FSC® certified, meaning they come from well-managed forests that meet strict environmental, social, and economic standards.
We also incorporate recycled content wherever possible:
- Cabinet chipboard is made from 66% recycled materials.
- Some of our door and drawer fronts are manufactured using 100% recycled board.
- Our finishes use 70% recycled PET (from plastic bottles), helping to reduce plastic waste.
Eco-Friendly Manufacturing
Our manufacturers have been awarded the ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification, an internationally recognized standard that ensures we continuously improve our environmental performance. They were also the first in the industry to achieve this certification!
A major step in sustainability was the installation of two of the UK’s largest biomass-fired boilers at their Barnsley head office. These boilers use wood waste to generate energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Zero Waste to Landfill
Sustainability isn’t just about materials – it’s also about waste reduction. Our manufacturers have achieved 0% waste to landfill, ensuring that every scrap of material is repurposed.
Impact in 2023:
- Plastic recycling saved the equivalent of 1.6 million 2-litre plastic bottles.
- Glass recycling produced the equivalent of 10,000 glass bottles.
- Landfill diversion saved 6,995 cubic meters of land.
- Energy recovery generated 4.3 million KWH, enough to power 932 homes for a year.
- Cardboard recycling saved the equivalent of 6,680 trees.
Sustainable Packaging & Construction
Our packaging uses 100% recycled cardboard, and our door panel protectors are now made from recycled pulp corners.
Our cabinets use a cam and dowel construction method, allowing damaged parts to be replaced instead of discarding the entire unit—reducing waste and extending the product’s lifespan.
Reducing Carbon Emissions
To further cut our carbon footprint, we introduced a hybrid and electric car fleet in 2021. By March 2024, we hit our goal of having 75% of company cars running on hybrid or electric power – helping reduce emissions while keeping our operations efficient.
Giving Back to Nature
Beyond sustainable products, we actively support environmental conservation. Our manufacturers became Gold Members of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust in 2022, helping to protect and restore local wildlife habitats.
